Your taste
Your Taste and Priorities Ultimately Decide the Right Rug Size!
Ultimately, your taste and priorities are what truly determine the right rug size! It's up to you to decide whether you want a small or large rug! A rug should be a long-term investment, and especially the durable, versatile Berber rugs are perfect for a lasting relationship with your home!
In general, we can make a basic distinction between small and large rugs and the effects they have. Small rugs are great for creating a modular look in any space. You can even move them around or easily shake them out on your balcony or terrace. They’re particularly handy, and for many, this is an important factor. On the other hand, large rugs tend to have a more expansive effect—they can make a room appear bigger, while smaller rugs typically don’t have that effect. So, if you're looking to make a statement, create a specific impact, or visually enlarge your living space, a large rug is definitely the way to go!
The most important tools for finding the right size, along with your personal taste and intuition, are masking tape and a measuring tape. Many people have found their perfect rug size using this method, as you can easily tape out different sizes on the floor using masking tape (painter's tape), and then remove it without leaving any residue. Once you’ve found the size that feels best, you can measure it with the tape measure. In the next sections, we’ll walk you through different rooms, so feel free to jump to the section that’s most relevant to you!
The living room
1st Option: Small to Medium-Sized Rugs (120x200 cm)
This option is, above all, very practical. However, it might not create that super cozy vibe you’re looking for. It works well in both small and large rooms. The rug should extend at least 10-20 cm beyond the seating area to achieve a balanced look.

2nd Option: Large Rugs (Approx. 200x300 cm or slightly smaller)
A large rug like this is perfect for making a statement in the room. It’s big enough to not only look stunning but also visually expand the living area, while still helping to define the space. This works well in both small and large rooms.

3rd Option: Extra-Large Rugs (220x320 cm and up)
This option isn’t just for large rooms! Our customers are often surprised by how well large rugs can work in smaller spaces. They not only expand the seating area but also add a lot of coziness, making the room feel warm and inviting.
The bedroom
A bedroom without a rug is, of course, only half as cozy, so it makes sense to add one large rug, two smaller ones, or a runner!
1st Option: A small runner (40-70x140-200 cm) at the foot of the bed is especially perfect if you like to sit at the end of the bed or have a small bench there. Alternatively, you can place two smaller rugs (starting from around 60x110 cm) or runners on either side of the bed.
2nd Option: A small to medium-sized rug placed at the lower end of the bed, with the rug slightly tucked under the bed. It’s nice if the rug peeks out a bit on both sides (at least 20 cm), so the size of the rug should be chosen based on the bed's dimensions. Rugs starting at 120x180 cm work well for this setup.

3rd Option: The rug can definitely be large in the bedroom, too! Rugs starting at 200x300 cm are perfect for creating an especially cozy vibe, as they cover the area around the bed.

The kitchen
There are, of course, many ways to incorporate a rug in the kitchen, and you can definitely play with the size here. In general, we recommend our Kelims for the kitchen, as they are quick and easy to clean. Wool rugs are also an option if the kitchen isn't heavily used. The wool in our rugs still retains its natural lanolin coating, which makes them highly resistant to dirt!
1st Option: A runner starting from 70x200 cm, but feel free to adjust the size based on your kitchen’s dimensions. Runners are also relatively quick to make, so you can always have your custom size crafted.

2nd Option: A small rug starting from 60x100 cm as a modular solution.
Dining area and Hallway
The size of the rug for the dining area mainly depends on the size and shape of the table. For round tables, you’ll need to opt for square Berber rugs, as the originals don’t come in round shapes. As a general rule, add about 70-90 cm from the edge of the table (on all sides), though this can vary slightly based on personal preference. Typically, large or occasionally medium-sized rugs are best for this area. In hallways, runners and smaller rugs (starting at 60x100 cm) often work well!
The children's room
2nd Option: A medium-sized rug starting from 120x200 cm, with additional sizes available upon request.
Home Office
We’re spending more and more time in our home office, which is all the more reason to furnish it with a cozy Berber rug.
1st Option: A small rug the width of your desk can help define the workspace, create a compact and organized look, and elevate the room.
2nd Option: The space-encompassing solution: With a medium or large rug, the entire workspace or office can be turned into a cozy and inviting area!
Of course, there are many more ways to incorporate a rug into your office or workspace—these are just two options to get you started. We’re always happy to offer free, personalized advice for your specific situation.
